Rethinking the path to meaningful employment.
The ReWork Richmond Difference
Many people living in and around the public housing communities in Richmond’s East End are hard at work, yet the poverty level remains high for one underlying reason. Residents are stuck in entry-level jobs that cannot sustain their families.
After confirming with the City of Richmond’s Office of Community Wealth Building that employment is the fastest and most direct way to move families beyond the poverty line, ReWork established a unique public/private partnership between St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in the East End, St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in the West End, the City of Richmond’s Office of Community Wealth Building, and Challenge Discovery Projects. Since then, additional faith communities, numerous non-profits serving the East End, multiple government agencies, and a number of employers have joined ReWork’s efforts and also become ReWork partners.
Our mission is to empower underemployed adults living in Richmond’s East End to obtain the skills and necessary support to qualify for and ultimately gain thriving, living-wage careers.
All participants are recommended by partner organizations serving individuals in the East End, or current ReWork Members.
