RE:work RICHMOND is a non-profit partnership between the City of Richmond’s Office of Community Wealth Building, St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, and Challenge Discovery Projects.
This initiative continues St. Stephen’s and St. Peter’s longstanding commitment to the East End, and responds to the community’s urgent call for meaningful, comprehensive workforce development and employment access support.
RE:work RICHMOND’S mission is to reduce the level of poverty in the East End of Richmond by helping unemployed and underemployed head of household parents obtain the skills and/or necessary support to qualify for, gain and sustain well-suited family sustaining careers. For the participants and their families, our goal is to help them navigate the pathway out of systemic poverty, and the social and economic structures that have kept them from realizing their potential.
RE:work RICHMOND is structured to provide a comprehensive suite of training, job placement and logistics support services tailored to meet each participant’s specific needs. These services will be provided by RE:work RICHMOND, a highly trained cadre of committed volunteers and professionals from congregations throughout Richmond, and a number of vocational and educational entities. Read more about the services offered here.
We hope that more congregations and non-profit organizations in the Richmond area will join in this important effort, and that individuals, foundations, and the corporate community will collaborate to sustain this vital community initiative in the years ahead.
